Grateful for Three Things, January 23, 2026

Before I went to bed last night, I jotted down quickly the three things that I was thankful for on Friday.

1.) My good friends Dan and Dave.

2.) General peace in my life.

3.) A place that I've been able to start attending church on a regular basis.

Between the three of us, we mostly communicate every day in our efforts to promote private and parochial high school athletics here in Texas.  Great colleagues and friends.  Couldn't be more thankful for their friendship than I am, I don't think.

I think the biggest thing about having the peace that I do right now is to having slowed down in the last month.  I haven't attended a sporting event, which has been tempered a little bit by some minor car issues, but I've also been trying to be more focused on my exercise. My reporting period ended today, Saturday, and I had one of my best months ever rowing, but am off a little bit for miles on my feet.

And I'm grateful that I'm back in church on a regular basis.  Probably have my daughter to thank mostly for that, as she first invited me for Father's Day a couple of years ago and then as she started to get asked to help from lead worship, I started to go more regularly until it just became the right habit.  41 out of 52 Sundays in 2025.
